![]() ![]() Having already worried that genetic breakdown could result in Toxin being mentally unstable, Eddie formed a temporary alliance with Cletus to kill the new symbiote, though ends up getting the exact opposite of what he wanted in the first place when Spider-Man arrives and joins Toxin's side. Things came to a head during a three-way confrontation between Venom, Carnage and Toxin, during which Venom realized that Pat was too dedicated to doing good to ever join his side and that the Toxin symbiote was likely to become stronger than both Venom and Carnage. Pat, who was already under a fair amount of stress as he and his wife welcomed a child into the world, was now forced to contend with the fact that he was bonded to an alien symbiote and that Carnage was coming for him and his family. Over time, the Toxin symbiote matured, eventually reaching the stage where it could form itself into a suit around Pat's body. Too drained from the birthing process to kill it, Carnage secretly bonded the symbiote to Mulligan - who was first on the scene - resolving to kill both of them once he was back in fighting shape. The Toxin symbiote was officially born in Venom Vs. Meanwhile, Venom (Eddie Brock), who himself spawned Carnage, wanted to save the new symbiote - which he dubbed Toxin - seeing it as a potential ally in his never-ending battle against Spider-Man. The series followed Carnage (Cletus Kasady), who was preparing to give birth to a new symbiote, which he planned to immediately kill so it could never oppose him. Mulligan was a straight-laced New York City police officer, who first appeared in the debut issue of writer Peter Milligan and artist Clayton Crain's 2004 limited series Venom Vs.
